Fan Fiction: Legendary Moltres

Submitted by Chansey7

CHAPTER FOUR

Pikachu made hard contact with the side of the mountain, and rolled down over rocks and dusty dirt until he reached a short cliff. He bounced onto the flat cliff, unconscious, only to fall right of the edge of it heading toward a painful death at the foot of the mountain.

It was morning, and the sun was going to rise in about three hours…this was when most of the Pokemon woke up and started their daily routines. A chubby, light pink Pokemon stretched out its short stubby legs, and yawned. It rolled head over heels playfully, and then stood up and stretched again. It walked to a grassy field and stared up at the crimson ball of fire beginning to rise over the horizon. Only a sliver of it could actually be seen, but the sky was a magnificent rainbow. Suddenly, as the Pokemon stood in awe, there was a shriek from above, and the sound echoed throughout the caverns and caves until it reached the giant Pokemon’s ears where it triggered a sense of emergency. The Pokemon waddled to the very foot of the mountain where it looked up and saw a tiny, limp yellow body being flung towards the ground. Having a natural instinct to help others in need, the fat little Pokemon held out its arms to catch whatever it was that was being thrown to its death.

Pikachu plummeted to the earth only to regain consciousness seconds before it landed in the arms of a giant Pokemon. The big balloon Pokemon cooed one “Chansey!” before Pikachu lost consciousness once again. The joyous Chansey brought Pikachu to a bubbling brook where it washed Pikachu’s cuts and bruises in the cool refreshing water. “Chan Chan see see” the Chansey said happily.

“PIKACHU!” Ash had screamed until he thought his lungs would burst. He knew that Pikachu meant the world to him and more, but he had to save the world first. He felt sick inside, picturing Pikachu’s body bruised and limp, lying at the foot of the mountain. He swung Charizard around again, and used some simple flying tricks to outsmart the Moltres. Finally after weakening the Moltres with Charizard, Pidgey, and Spearow, it fainted, and they held out the net to the injured bird. The net bulged out for the bird was very big, but it still held it. They landed on one side of the mountain, and with Brock and Misty’s help, Ash carefully tied the Moltres to Charizard’s feet. Surprisingly, Charizard didn’t mind.

“Where’s Pikachu?” Brock questioned Ash.

“Pikachu…was knocked off. He fell…down.” That was all Ash could say before he burst out crying.

“Oh my gosh. Poor Pikachu,” Misty said sadly.

“It could still be alive!” Brock said cheerfully despite the fact that he doubted his own words.

Misty took Ash’s hand. “If Pikachu is gone, we’ll make sure it goes the right way,” she said. So they set off to find Pikachu. First they used their flying Pokemon to reach the other side of the mountain where Ash saw Pikachu fall. They were sure to find it there.

Chansey wiped Pikachu dry with a tiny rag on the bank of the stream. Pikachu still lay unconscious when two figures dropped down from the trees.

“Prepare for trouble!”

“Yes, and make it double!”

“To protect the world from devastation.”

“To unite all peoples within out nation!”

“To denounce the evils of truth and love.”

“To extend our reach to the stars above!”

“Jessie.”

“James.”

“Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.”

“Surrender now, or prepare to fight!”

Then Meowth jumped up and cried, “Meow! That’s right!”

“We’re going to take that Pikachu now.” Jessie said.

“Yes, you can’t stop us this time because that brat and his friends aren’t around!” James crowed.

“CHAN…SEY!” Chansey shouted.

“Now watch your language you little pest,” Jessie said, irritated by Chansey’s courage. Chansey used Double Slap on Team Rocket, which wasn’t very effective. They pushed the astonished Chansey down, and grabbed Pikachu, who was very unaware of what was going on.

Ash led the way around the forest below the mountain, Misty and Brock encouraging him the whole way. “Ash, I’m sure Pikachu’s fine. It’s a very strong Pokemon, I’m sure it didn’t die,” Brock said, sure of himself this time. They walked through a tiny field where they found a stream. Deciding to follow it, Ash walked slowly along the muddy bank, watchful. They rounded a little grove of trees where they came to a clearing. They crouched in the bushes because of the voices that could be heard.

“As soon as this Pikachu is all better, we can bring it to the Boss,” Meowth said proudly.

“Yes, we’ve actually done something right.”

Ash unzipped his backpack slowly and took out a nice pair of binoculars. Lifting the eyepieces to his face, he scanned the area. On a flat rock near the Rocket’s picnic, laid Pikachu sleeping. Ash motioned for Misty and Brock to follow him, and they agreed. He lay on his stomach in the tall grass and inched along as quietly as possible. “Aaachhooo!” Misty sneezed unexpectedly.

Jessie and James looked up. “What was that?” James asked. Ash shut his eyes as sweat rolled down his face.

“It was probably Pikachu talking in its sleep,” Meowth said. Misty let out a sigh of relief and they continued creeping towards Pikachu. Soon they had inched all the way to the rock where Pikachu lay unconscious. The crouched low behind the rock and carefully lifted Pikachu off it.

“Oh Pikachu!” Ash said…a little too loudly.

“It’s the brat!” Jessie and James stood up and began to recite their motto, their eyes focused on some far off dream not on their audience. Ash, Brock and Misty rushed back to their flying Pokemon and they were out of there before the Rockets finished talking. Pikachu lay on Ash’s lap while Ash fussed over it, and Misty and Brock looked at each other and smiled, knowing that this mission had been successful. Nothing would stop them now. Except maybe the volcano. How would they make it erupt? Would the Moltres stay in there? Would anyone get injured? These questions were far from their minds as they flew off into the rising sun, heading back toward the panicked village of Torch, carrying with them a very, dangerous, Pokemon.
